Procrastination Psychology Workshop

Procrastination Psychology

This Workshop Is Not Currently Scheduled.

It’s a myth that the good habit of self-discipline is all that’s needed to break the bad habit of procrastination. The brain doesn’t work on a simple binary model like this. And the popular media promoting this myth just exacerbates the procrastinator’s shame spiral … “I’m so lazy. Why can’t I just get started?”.

But telling a procrastinator to “Just get started” is as helpful as telling a depressed person to “Just be happy”, it doesn’t work. By the end of this workshop you’ll understand why.

In this workshop we’ll:

  • Bust the most common procrastination myths with psychology research (hint: you’re not afraid of failure).
  • Explore the influence of parenting styles and learned coping skills on the development of procrastination behaviour.
  • Identify how procrastination permeates your life in different forms of avoidance and emotional uncertainty (not just when you have deadlines to meet).

By the end of this workshop you’ll understand the psychology of procrastination and why it’s NOT a habit, but a behavioural symptom. That’s why all the time management hacks you’ve tried haven’t worked.
