  • Do you only do things you’re good at?

When I was in my 20s, I used to only do things I was good at and what I've realized as I've gotten older is that this was an expression of an irrational way of thinking called conditional self-worth.

In other words, I had to rate myself as being good at things in order to feel worthy of being alive and taking up space in the world. I've started to develop and continue to develop my sense of unconditional self-worth, but it's a long, long life journey.

I've done it by trying new things and taking joy in the process of doing things, whether I'm good at them or not. If I enjoy something I'm like, “F#ck it! I'm doing it anyway”. But I didn't do that when I was in my 20s. It's taken a process get there.

I'd like to know what you do to develop unconditional self-worth.
