Coping with Life Stress

Program Overview

We each develop a maximum capacity for tolerating and coping with life stress due to genetics and lived experience. From significantly stressful events to small daily hassles, like traffic jams, every day puts pressure on our mental health. Then, when we experience a particularly challenging event, our vulnerabilities and fragility are brought to light. Everyone can benefit from learning healthy coping skills but most of us don’t know we need it until the stress is upon us and we’re struggling to access help. People who lack adaptive coping skills are especially at risk of experiencing anxiety, depression, insomnia, substance abuse/relapse, social conflict or physical illness.

Based on neuroscience principles and evidence-based psychology therapies, the "Coping with Life Stress" wellness program will teach participants how to expand their capacity to accept, tolerate and effectively cope with life. Participants will learn 7 key skills that build on each other to create an integrated stress management method.

I knew some individual skills before the class, but I didn't know how to practice or combine them like a do now.

- Michelle

I used to get really anxious all the time but now I'm more aware of my triggers and thoughts and how to calm myself down. I feel lighter and less worried about things.

- Laura

Before Trudy's program it had never occurred to me before that my emotions have important information to give me and that can be used to reach my goals.

- greg

I really enjoyed the classes, they moved at the right pace and I liked that we were interacting a lot and not sitting looking at slides much. I learned a lot and feel much happier and more confident in myself.
